| An Easter Message |
From the office of Mayor Dors Rivilla, we try to reach out everyone with a prayerful greeting of joy as we have just ended a month-long celebration of the Lenten Season, culminating in the Passion of Christ and His Resurrection. Easter is a very significant event, perhaps more significant than Christmas, in the Christian world, as it sealed the completion of the much awaited redemption of man from sin. That is why we see the essence of the Easter celebration as one of joy because that spirit of joy brings with it the inner peace that the Risen Christ shared with his disciples when He rejoined them after conquering death: “Peace be with you!Allow the Mayor to share with you some of his Easter recollection: Jesus Christ was the ideal leader of the people. He was the King of kings who came to serve and not to be served. He gave His very life for the people He loved. He was a Man for others. This concept of leadership is what inspires and drives Mayor Dors Rivilla to remain a servant of the people, a concept which should be the only justification of every political leadership. There is no point in belaboring the point and definition of leadership. Leadership by example is what the concept should be. It goes without saying that a leader has to be sensitive to the needs of his people. It goes without saying that a leader must be resourceful enough to address those needs as best as humanly possible. And it goes without saying that if a sacrifice has to be made, a leader must begin it within him. There is a bit of a leader in each one of us. There will always be people around us who require the presence of a leader. When we recognize those occasions for leadership, let us not forget that a leader has to be a man for others if he wishes to accomplish something that will benefit his own community. It is in forgetting oneself that he discovers what is best for others. It is in serving others that one may feel that he is being a true leader. A man for others is what Paniqui, in fact the whole country, needs to stand as the leader. For comments / reactions, please email: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
