 Honolulu, Hawaii USA - A Hawaii born, Filipino lass, Lovely May Acosta Orsino, 18 years old, became the first title holder of Miss Teen North America 2008 when she was crowned in Manchester, New Hampshire. She bested fifty other candidates representing countries within the North American continent. With its motto, “ Building Self Esteem While Feeling Like Kings and Queens,” the pageant is sponsored and coordinated by North America Productions, Inc.“I had a chill that ran down my back when I heard my name as the first Miss Teen North America,” said Lovely. “It was like a weight that was lifted from my shoulder. All the hard work and preparation for this pageant were paid off. Indeed, I’m very proud to be a Filipina representing Hawaii,” she expressed herself. Realizing the value of education, Lovely just received her high school diploma from the Penn Foster Home School. Her ambition in life is to become an entrepreneur and start a business in pageantry also one day create her own clothing line. Lovely May joined the pageant because she wants to represent not only the American culture but also being proud to be a Filipina who’s born and raised in Hawaii. She was accompanied by her mom Ellen A. Orsino when they went to New Hampshire.
