US expats donate wifi equipment

Wifi Zone

The eGovernance program of the local government of Paniqui, Tarlac got another major boost as the PaniqueniansUSA, Inc. thru Mr. Freddie Manalo donated today one broadband router and one access point to expand the existing wifi zone within the municipal hall compound.

Mr. Manalo, who was here in the country to attend the funeral of his father, personally handed the networking equipment to Mayor Dors Rivilla with the ICT staff looking on.

Mayor Rivilla profusely thank Mr. Manalo and the PaniqueniansUSA, Inc. for being very supportive to his administration.

The PaniqueniansUSA, Inc. is the same group who donated computers to the municipal library which led to the establishment of the PaniqueniansUSA eCenter for Community Development.

The donated equipment were a DLink Wireless 108G Access Point and a LinkSys WRT54G Wireless BroadBand router.  The router will be installed at the municipal library to replace the old Edimax router which in turn will be installed at the 2nd floor of the Municipal Town Building.  The access point will be installed at the lobby of the munisipyo which hopes to provide internet access at the mini park in front of the Municipal Town Building.

In their short chat, Mayor Rivilla confided that he intended to expand the eCenter to accomodate more internet surfers.  He also said that as early as now, they are already preparing for the town fiesta so that Paniquenians from all over the world could prepare and attend the festivities.

The ICT unit intends to webcast live all the scheduled Fiesta 2009 activities via ePaniqui OnLine.

Wifi is now freely available at the municipal library and in all floors of the municipal building which has benches where laptop users can sit and enjoy surfing for free.
