|
In his continuing effort to ensure social justice for all residents in the municipality especially those belonging to the poorest of the poor, Mayor Miguel C. Rivilla awarded today PhilHealth cards to a total of 677 indigent families. Mayor Rivilla personally distributed the health cards to the beneficiaries who are identified by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Rural Health Units and the Philippine Health Insurance Corp (PhilHealth) in a simple turn-over ceremony at the Municipal Gym at the back of the Municipal Hall Compound. Aside from the beneficiaries, present were Mayor Dors Rivilla, MSWDO Silvia D. Soriano, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Amy Pamintuan, and a represetative from the Office of the Governor.
The 677 indigent families who received their Philhealth cards this morning are only part of the more than 1,000 indigent families in the municipality who will stand to benefit from the local government’s health program for the indigents. The health program for the indigents aims to address the health and hospitalization needs of the town's poorest of the poor who cannot afford the high cost of hospitalization. With their PhilHealth cards, even these poor families can now avail of quality health care and medical treatment in any PhilHealth accredited medical institution. Mayor Rivilla said that health concerns are his priority and will continue on the programs that will benefit the poor. |
